Shana is a Middle Tennessee native, raised in Dickson County and now lives just a county over in the town of Centerville. She is a wife and a homeschooling mom of three girls. She has worked with children since she was a teen starting with babysitting for family friends then becoming a Nanny after graduating high school. She has nannied for several families over the years before she became a mom 8 years ago. Her passion for birth and postpartum started after the birth of her first child. She realized she wanted to do things differently and had no idea there were so many options. Shana started to understand the importance of a doula's role in birth and how important it is to have support postpartum. She went on to have two home births which sparked her passion even more. The only thing holding her back was having small children and a nursing infant. Once her youngest weaned, she knew she wanted to pursue doula work further. After becoming certified, Shana found her heart even more led to postpartum work than she had before. She feels called to help fill in the gap that is so desperately missing in society after birth. Where everyone is so focused on the new baby, the mother (and family in general) become an afterthought. By nature, Shana is a nurturer and sees so much value in mothering the mother. By allowing the mother space to sleep, shower, be pampered, have a meal prepared for her family, and maybe even dishes or laundry, she knows those can be daunting for a new mom in the early days, and loves helping families ease into that transition.

In her free time, she enjoys spending her days with her girls and husband. You can usually find her at the park, hiking, in a hammock reading, or listening to music, but never without coffee in hand.
