April has been a Registered Nurse since February, 2008. Her background consists of over 11 years as a Neonatal ICU nurse, 2 years in a pediatric diabetes/endocrine clinic, and 3 years in an outpatient breastfeeding clinic.

Her passion for lactation is to support and help new families. Especially after they have settled in at home, and no longer have their care provider or a lactation consultant nearby.

This passion was born in her after the difficulties that she faced when her daughter was born. Six months into her breastfeeding journey she started having difficulties and realized that she needed additional support. April quickly realized that it is hard to find help after you leave the hospital. She enjoys working with moms and helping them reach THEIR goals, whatever that might look like.

“There is no judgement with what you decide is best for you and your baby.”

April is married to her high school sweetheart and has 2 kids and 2 dogs. Her son is 8 and her daughter is 4. In her free time she loves doing all that she can with her kids and their activities with school and sports. Her family loves going on small weekend vacations to see everything this beautiful country has to offer and going on family hikes around the Nashville area.

-Testimonial-

“Two weeks postpartum, I had a medical emergency. As a result of this, my milk supply plummeted. As a first time mom just trying to figure everything out, I was overwhelmed to say the least. I strongly desired to be able to breastfeed my child for a variety of reasons. As my baby struggled to gain weight, I reached out for help and came in contact with April.

She quickly assured me that we would prioritize my baby’s health needs and create a plan with the goal of building back my milk supply. We created a schedule for nursing, pumping, and supplementing. She gave me many resources for breastfeeding, some that I didn’t even know I needed! (Lactation recipes, pumping techniques, breast care, etc.)

April was not only highly professional, but I truly began to view her as a friend and a cheerleader on this journey I was on. After about two months of working with April, my supply was restored, my baby was exclusively breastfeeding, and I was overjoyed, to say the least. The work of a lactation consultant is truly valuable, but April’s heart behind it is what stands out!”
